Supporting British Farming: A Brewer's Commitment to Local Agriculture
One of the most important aspects of creating quality beer is sourcing the finest ingredients. In the UK, this often means turning to the country’s rich agricultural heritage to find local grains, hops, and other essential crops. By supporting British farming, brewers not only enhance the quality of their beers but also contribute to the sustainability and resilience of the agricultural sector. Championing local farmers is a key part of brewing that benefits the entire supply chain — from farm to pint.
British farming plays a crucial role in the brewing industry. We source all of our grain from farms across England. By supporting these local farmers, we ensure that our beers maintain a distinctive character, influenced by the region's soil, climate, and farming practices.
Hops, another essential ingredient for brewing, are also grown across the UK, with areas like Kent, Herefordshire, and Worcestershire known for their hop farms. We source all of our hops from Kent and as well as embracing new innovative hop varieties within our brewing recipes, we also actively support traditional hop varieties in our brews such as East Kent Golding, which can trace its roots back to 1790.
