Our British Lager: Queen & Empress

Queen Victoria, born on May 24th 1819 in Kensington Palace, became one of the most significant monarchs in British history. Ascending to the throne at the age of 18 in 1837, her reign lasted until her death in 1901, marking a period known as the Victorian Era characterised by industrial expansion and vast improvements in living standards.

Victoria married her cousin Prince Albert in 1840, and their partnership greatly influenced her reign. Together they had nine children, who were married into various European royal families earning Victoria the nickname "the grandmother of Europe."

Her reign saw significant changes including the expansion of the railways, the rise of the middle class, and monumental advancements in science and industry. Victoria was also known for her strict moral code and the promotion of family values, which shaped societal norms.

Victoria’s influence extended beyond politics; her legacy includes changes in the monarchy's role in British society, and she remains an enduring figure in British history symbolising both the achievements and complexities of the era. She passed away on January 22nd 1901, and was succeeded by her son, Edward VII.

It is this pioneering era of social and industrial development that inspired the creation of our British Lager, the Queen & Empress. A beer that embodies the advancement of this regal era with its golden-hued sophistication and delicious flavour profile.
